This is a rare pottery shard pendant with a gold open back bezel setting. Lovely flower pattern on a white background. Sweet and pretty. Rich shades of pink and green.

For the necklace I've used gold jeweler's wire to hand wire wrap beautiful pink Freshwater Pearls in shades of rose, mauve, rhubarb and raspberry, along with some juicy green Aventurine to coordinate perfectly with the pottery shard pendant. Gold accents and absolutely gorgeous.

Garden Inspiration for my Floral Themed Bittersweet Ridge Jewelry

My favorite jewelry to make?  Definitely floral.  My garden makes me happy all four seasons.  In fact my home has lots of flower accents - from draperies to pillows, watercolors to wallpaper.  Flowers are essential to my wellbeing.  So its no wonder that I actually love gardening and am passionate about my roses and lilies.

I thought I'd share a few photos of my favorite blossoms this growing season.  Our crepe myrtles are still blooming and just lovely this year.

I love to sip my first cup of coffee out on the back porch.  It feels so private with lush wisteria covering the pergola roof, yet there are distant vistas of our meadows to stretch the eye.  Hummingbirds are fluttered from flower to flower and honey bees are working their magic in the garden.  The smell of lilies and roses is incredibly sweet that it is intoxicating.

Quench a Heat Wave with a Popsicle

It's shaping up to be a hot, dry summer here at Bittersweet Ridge.  We've begun our rain dances and watch the storms skirt around us.  We're up pretty early to work in the garden, weed and water the flowers, in order to beat the heat.  One treat that quenches our need for relief is a popsicle!  I recently read that popsicles came to be in 1905.  I had no idea.

In 1905, an 11 years olf boy, Frank Epperson, left a cup filled with powdered soda, water and a stirring stick on his porch overnight.  Low temps caused the mixture to freeze and a long time summer treat was born.  This year Popsicle (owned by the Unilever company) will release new Jolly Rancher flavors, however classic cherry is still the most popular.  Believe it or not, over two billion Popsicles are sold every year.

I must be in good company!

It's Spring at Bittersweet Ridge

If the last few days are any indication, this spring promises to be glorious! Everything is blooming or budding. Tulips, jonquils, magnolias, forsythia, spirea... our pink flowering crab trees... the fruit trees... and the redbuds should be in full bloom in a day or two. The dogwood can't be far behind.
