Rose Brooch at Bittersweet Ridge Jewelry

Our roses are giving us a beautiful blast of color and fragrance in the garden, even if Mother Nature is warning us of winter's approach.   Let's face it:  we're always in the mood for roses.

If you feel the same way, be sure to take a peek at this sweet, romantic rose blossom pin.  This hand carved Mother of Pearl rose has a rich luster.  The color is creamy white with very pale pink highlights as it moves in the light.  The brooch finding is silver, but does not show while you're wearing the pin.

Gothic Garden Leaf Earrings for Fall

These handcrafted leaf earrings have an exotic flavor.  I used hand carved chunky leaves of Poppy Jasper in rich brick red with gray inclusions.  Then I dangled some sleek, gray metallic Hematite beads.  Silver accents finish off this gothic garden theme.

Did you know that a leaf symbolizes happiness!

Victorian Style Jewelry: Ivory Rose Necklace

You may very well find yourself explaining that you really didn't raid your Grandmother's jewelry box when you wear this handmade Victorian style rose necklace.

Front and center is this exquisite ivory reconstituted coral rose pendant. The rose is fully three dimensional and looks as those it is a real rose that has been very carefully preserved for the ages. I've suspended it from a charming rose floral aged brass connector.

The necklace is composed of soft ivory natural Riverstone gemstone beads, accented with vintage style brass bead caps and little floral beads. Extra long, extra romantic, and extra special. Perfectly neutral in color so you can wear this very vintage piece with just about anything. Included are coordinating earrings composed of the same natural Riverstone gemstone beads suspended from antiqued brass leverback finding.

This romantic necklace would be a beautiful accessory to wear to a wedding. Browse Bittersweet Ridge Jewelry for more Victorian style jewelry pieces.

Summer in the Garden at Bittersweet Ridge

Though I'm not a fan of summer temperatures soaring to 100 degrees and higher, nor the wicked humidity, I must say I appreciate Mother Nature's all out effort to cheer me up and onward.  My lily garden is simply glorious!

I can never make up my mind about a favorite.  What I do know for sure is that they provide mega inspiration for my romantic floral necklaces, bracelets and earrings at Bittersweet Ridge Jewelry.

Words of Love: Romantic Inspiration from George Moore

The hours I spend with you I look upon as sort of a perfumed garden, a dim twilight, and a fountain singing to it.  You and you alone make me feel that I am alive.  Other men it is said have seen angels, but I have seen thee and thou art enough.

Garden Inspiration for my Floral Themed Bittersweet Ridge Jewelry

My favorite jewelry to make?  Definitely floral.  My garden makes me happy all four seasons.  In fact my home has lots of flower accents - from draperies to pillows, watercolors to wallpaper.  Flowers are essential to my wellbeing.  So its no wonder that I actually love gardening and am passionate about my roses and lilies.

I thought I'd share a few photos of my favorite blossoms this growing season.  Our crepe myrtles are still blooming and just lovely this year.

Did I mention I like pink?!

Garden Tours

Personally, my favorite jewelry seems to always have a flower theme. I know it's because I so love flowers. Right now I'm enjoying my crape myrtles (as are the hummingbirds), and the last gasps of my annuals before autumn begins in earnest. And I've been congratulating myself on my brilliance of planting fall blooming daylilies (my favorite flowers) as I do my at-home garden "tours."

Sometimes, though, I'm in the mood to do more than look at my own plantings or those I see on P Allen Smith's show... so I head for the botanical garden in St Louis or scout for other annual or seasonal garden tours.

Sound good to you, too? Why not pack a picnic and make a day of it at a private garden open to the public. The Garden Conservancy has an Open Days program. Check their site for a calendar and to see what gardens might be open for a stroll near you.
