You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. Happy May Day!

May 1 is May Day! As old fashioned as it may seem... I carry on the tradition of May baskets! The best are lovely little things left as a surprise for a friend. Tender spring blossoms picked fresh and tucked into a lace doily cone or little decorated basket. Though I, personally, would not turn down a big florist bouquet! :-)
